Don't miss out on our upcoming lecture series for 2008-09  Many interesting and thought provoking presentations, both old and new, all the way through to April.  Most of our lectures are videotaped, and available to you daily from 10 AM - 4 PM.  Just ask a Docent at the Learning Center, and they'll be happy to accommodate you.

PLACE:  BAREFOOT BEACH LEARNING CENTER (2 miles west of US 41 OFF Bonita Beach Road; left turn at Barefoot Beach Blvd light;  Drive south to second guard gate; park in first lot) LECTURE IS IN CHICKEE HUT BETWEEN THE BUTTERFLY GARDEN AND CACTUS  GARDEN.  

Each Saturday, beginning in early December, prior to the lecture, there is a 9 am nature walk with an experienced park ranger. The group gathers at the Learning Center and returns there by 10 am. The lecture series runs through the season till mid­April. Lectures are sponsored by the Friends of Barefoot Beach Preserve, a non-profit organization concerned with the protection and preservation our precious marine and wetland environment.

There is no charge for the ranger-guided walk or lecture; however, there is a  parking fee for those visitors who do not have a Collier County Beach Parking permit. Beach parking permits are available free of charge to all individuals who live or own property within Collier County. Passes can also be purchased in Collier County for $30 per year, which is a good bargain if you plan to visit the beach often, or plan on attending the lecture series on a somewhat regular basis. A pass granting access to Barefoot Beach is also available to individuals who volunteer to work on a regularly scheduled basis at the "Friends" Learning Center during season.
